Seoul, South Korea – The '2024 SEOULCon' influencer fair, held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul at the end of last year, drew approximately 61,000 attendees, according to organizers. The Seoul Business Agency (SBA) reported that the event featured 3,498 teams of global influencers from 52 countries, solidifying its position as the world's largest influencer fair.
Despite being shortened from four to two days due to a national mourning period, SEOULCon successfully generated over 5,590 pieces of online content promoting Seoul, amassing more than 320 million views. An interim report by the SBA estimates the event's economic impact at $53.6 billion, including sales, visitor spending, and advertising effects. This impact is projected to yield $77.5 billion in production inducement, $35.3 billion in value-added inducement, and $17.4 billion in income inducement, with the potential to attract 474,000 future visitors to Seoul.
The event highlighted strong commerce matching between influencers and companies, with $12.1 billion in sales recorded through various programs. This success led to a collaboration agreement between SBA and Alibaba Taobao Global for live commerce initiatives.
"SEOULCon exemplifies the evolution of the Creator Economy," said an SBA official.
Looking ahead, the 2025 SEOULCon, scheduled from December 29 to January 1 at the DDP, will focus on strengthening e-sports, influencer collaboration, and fashion.
"SEOULCon is becoming a key global commerce platform," stated SBA CEO Kim Hyun-woo. "In 2025, we aim to further establish Seoul as a leader in the Creator Economy and a hub for the global digital economy."
