Lima, Peru – The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has announced that Peruvian crafts will be featured at the prestigious Ambiente Worldwide – Messe Frankfurt 2025. This leading international trade fair, specializing in home décor and gifts, will take place from February 7th to 11th and is expected to draw participants from over 170 countries and more than 3,900 exhibitors.
Peru's delegation will consist of 11 companies and 4 Centers for Technological Innovation in Crafts and Tourism (CITEs). These participants, hailing from regions such as Lima, Amazonas, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Puno, and Piura, were selected through a public competition.
Under the banner of Mincetur's "Artesanías del Perú" brand, the exhibit will showcase a diverse range of products that blend traditional techniques with contemporary designs, utilizing native materials from various artisanal lines. This initiative not only highlights Peru's rich cultural heritage but also aims to integrate its crafts into the global market. It is anticipated that this participation could generate future sales, potentially boosting national exports by US$2 million.
Commitment to Artisanal Development
Peru's presence at Ambiente Worldwide 2025 was solidified during the first meeting of the year of the National Council for the Promotion of Crafts. This council, chaired by Mincetur, comprises representatives from various public and private entities, as well as artisans themselves.
The meeting underscored the importance of establishing Peruvian crafts in the international market. Discussions also encompassed planned activities for 2025, reaffirming the commitment to leverage the country's trade agreements, identify opportunities, and define mechanisms that benefit the production workshops of over 420,000 artisans nationwide.
Furthermore, the council reviewed the progress of commitments made in 2024, focusing on the need to restore craft export levels and expand the productive base.
