Seoul, South Korea – A Seoul court has ordered the detention of 56 individuals involved in a violent protest outside the Seoul Western District Court, where a hearing was held regarding a possible arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The Seoul Western District Court conducted a custodial interrogation on 58 suspects on Monday, and issued arrest warrants for 56 of them, citing concerns about them fleeing. The remaining two suspects, who had entered the court early on Sunday morning, were released.

The charges against the detained individuals include trespassing, obstruction of official duties, and property damage. The court split the hearings among two judges due to the potential involvement of a judge's chambers in the incident.

The violent protests, which took place over two days, involved approximately 90 individuals who were arrested on-site. The majority of those arrested were involved in storming the court building, obstructing the High-ranking Officials Crime Investigation Agency, and assaulting police officers.

Police have been investigating the incident and have sought arrest warrants for 63 out of the 66 individuals involved in the most serious offenses. The remaining individuals are being investigated without detention.

Among those arrested was a man in his 40s who is accused of breaking down the door to a judge's chambers on the seventh floor of the court building. Two other suspects who confessed to entering the court have been released on bail.
