Dar es Salaam - Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango is set to inaugurate Renewable Energy Week 2025 in May, highlighting the importance of sustainable energy for Tanzania's future. The exhibition, organized by the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA) in partnership with the Ministry of Energy, will showcase the latest advancements in solar, wind, geothermal, and sustainable cooking solutions.

The event aims to address the escalating challenges of climate change, which is estimated to cost Tanzania 1% of its GDP annually. TAREA Chairman Prosper Magali emphasized the need for collective action to mitigate climate change and promote renewable energy solutions.

"Renewable energy is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy security, and driving sustainable economic growth," said Mr. Magali.

"We expect between 500 and 800 participants and many more visitors," said Deputy Chairperson Ms. Brenda Kazimili. "This year's theme, 'Empowering Sustainability, Advancing Renewable Energy Solutions,' underscores our commitment to creating a greener and more resilient future for Tanzania."
