SEOUL – BMW Korea is set to electrify the luxury automotive market this month, announcing the official release of nine exclusive "Online Limited Edition" models. Starting at 3:00 PM on May 12, these highly coveted vehicles will be available solely through the BMW Shop Online platform.
This May collection showcases a diverse range of performance-engineered machines, spanning from the agile M2 Coupe to the flagship XM hybrid. To enhance their collectible appeal, BMW has curated specific exterior color palettes inspired by the vibrancy of late spring, alongside premium interior upgrades and race-inspired specifications.
The Prowess of M: Pure Performance in Limited Numbers
The spotlight of this release shines brightly on the M2 Coupe Sao Paulo Yellow Edition. Dressed in a high-visuality, energetic hue, this compact powerhouse is designed for driving enthusiasts who demand both aesthetics and performance.
Key Upgrade: Standard inclusion of M Carbon Bucket Seats, significantly reducing weight while providing track-ready lateral support.
Performance: Delivers a formidable 480 hp.
Exclusivity: Limited to just 15 units, priced at KRW 98.5 million.
For those seeking a blend of utility and raw power, the Dravit Grey Editions of the M3 Competition M xDrive Touring and the M4 Competition M xDrive Coupe offer a sophisticated, metallic finish. Both models have been tuned to produce 530 hp. With only 7 units available for each model, they are priced at KRW 140.4 million and KRW 139.9 million, respectively. Additionally, the M4 Competition M xDrive Convertible Skyscraper Grey Edition (limited to 7 units) enters the market at KRW 144.4 million, offering an open-air experience paired with elite M performance.
Electrified Dominance: The Hybrid Heavyweights
BMW is also pushing the boundaries of high-performance electrification. The M5 Storm Bay Edition and its long-roof counterpart, the M5 Touring Storm Bay Edition, lead the charge. These hybrids boast a staggering combined output of 727 hp.
M5 Sedan: KRW 183.9 million (7 units)
M5 Touring: KRW 186.8 million (7 units)
At the pinnacle of the lineup sits the XM Label Marina Bay Blue Edition. As the most powerful SUV in the BMW stable, it utilizes a high-performance hybrid system to churn out 748 hp. This "super-SUV" is restricted to only 7 units nationwide, carrying a premium price tag of KRW 230.1 million.
Urban Sophistication: The Frozen Series
Catering to the premium compact segment, BMW Korea introduced the Frozen Pure Grey Special Editions for the X1 xDrive20i and X2 xDrive20i. These models feature a matte finish that highlights the sharp, modern contours of BMW’s latest SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) design language.
X1 Edition: 40 units available (KRW 70.5 million)
X2 Edition: 10 units available (KRW 72.0 million)
Strategy: The Digital Showroom Trend
Industry analysts note that BMW Korea’s "Online Exclusive" strategy continues to be a massive success. By bypassing traditional showrooms for these limited runs, the brand creates a "click-to-buy" urgency that often results in entire lineups selling out within minutes.
"These editions are not just cars; they are a statement of individuality," said a BMW Korea representative. "By combining seasonal colors with high-performance specs like Carbon Bucket seats and advanced xDrive systems, we are providing our Korean customers with a level of exclusivity usually reserved for bespoke commissions."
Prospective buyers are encouraged to ensure their accounts are active on the BMW Shop Online portal ahead of the May 12 launch, as these models are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Given the extremely low production numbers—some as few as seven units—the competition for this May's allotment is expected to be fiercer than ever.
