Lambayeque, Peru – In a concerted effort to coordinate responses across various levels of government, Peru's President of the Council of Ministers, Gustavo Adrianzén, has conducted an inspection of ongoing preventative measures. These measures are being implemented by the Executive Branch in the La Leche River basins and the town of Mórrope, located in the Lambayeque region.

During his visit, the Cabinet Chief was accompanied by Regional Governor Jorge Pérez, local authorities, members of Congress Marleny Portero and Alejandro Aguinaga, Secretary of the National Risk and Disaster Management Secretariat (SGRD) Percy Mercado, and officials from the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci).

Adrianzén urged mayors in affected jurisdictions to promptly initiate the process for declaring their localities under a state of imminent danger emergency. "The declarations of a state of emergency remain open. We simply require district mayors to complete their forms and register them in the National Information System for Disaster Prevention and Attention," stated the PCM head. He further explained that the provided information would be evaluated by Indeci and SGRD.

Following discussions with authorities and residents about the primary challenges in addressing the emergency, the Premier announced plans to enhance the regulatory framework. This enhancement aims to enable entities such as the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN), the National Water Authority (ANA), the Ministries of Transportation and Communications (MTC), Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), the regional government, and municipalities to respond more effectively to emergencies.

Humanitarian Aid Distribution and Regional Response

During the inspection, the President of the Council of Ministers also toured areas severely impacted by the heavy rains. He personally verified the distribution of humanitarian aid from Indeci warehouses to the affected population. Additionally, he announced the activation of agricultural insurance to support farmers whose crops have been damaged.

Addressing the broader impact of the intense rains, Premier Adrianzén reported that, under the direction of President Dina Boluarte, eight State Ministers have been deployed to Apurímac, Arequipa, Cusco, Lambayeque, Piura, Tumbes, and Ucayali. "The entire Executive Branch has been mobilized to these regions, and we are coordinating efforts from these locations," he affirmed.
