INCHEON, SOUTH KOREA – The Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education, led by Superintendent Do Seong-hoon, has announced the inauguration of a dedicated after-school Korean language class for students from immigrant backgrounds. The program will be hosted at the ‘Dagachi Baeumteo’ (Diverse Together Learning Center) in Hambak Village, Yeonsu-gu, marking a significant step towards supporting the linguistic and social integration of these students.

The ‘Dagachi Baeumteo’ serves as a crucial educational hub for immigrant youth, established through a collaborative partnership between the Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education and the Yeonsu-gu Office. This initiative directly addresses the challenges faced by elementary and middle school students with immigrant backgrounds who often encounter language barriers in their academic and social lives. The primary objectives of the Korean language classes are to enhance their Korean language proficiency and facilitate a smoother adaptation to the Korean school environment and broader community.

The after-school Korean language program is structured into three-month terms, running from April through December. Classes will be held regularly after school hours every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, providing consistent and accessible language support to participating students. The curriculum is expected to be tailored to the specific needs of the students, focusing on practical communication skills, vocabulary development relevant to school subjects and daily life, and cultural understanding to aid in their integration.
