Seoul to Gangwon: Gangwon Tourism Organization and Seoul Tourism Organization Seek to Strengthen Mutual Cooperation

The Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Sung-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the "Organization") announced that it visited the Seoul Tourism Organization (CEO Kim Byung-min) on Friday, October 2, to hold a joint meeting. As leading tourism institutions representing Gangwon and the Seoul metropolitan area, both organizations agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation across various fields, including expanding tourist attraction, joint tourism marketing, and exchanging tourism content and business initiatives.
Arranged to congratulate CEO Kim Byung-min on his inauguration, the meeting was attended by key executives from both organizations, including the CEOs, division heads, and team leaders of respective business departments. Participants shared major issues in the domestic tourism industry and regional tourism trends, while engaging in extensive discussions on practical tourism cooperation measures connecting Seoul and Gangwon. - Attendees from the Gangwon Tourism Organization: CEO Choi Sung-hyun, Head of Division Yoon Tae-hwan, Head of Tourism Marketing Department Noh Gi-hyun, Head of Global Marketing Department Park Won-shik, and Smart PR Team Leader Choi Beom-soon. - Attendees from the Seoul Tourism Organization: CEO Kim Byung-min, Head of Division Lee Soo-taek, Global Marketing Team Leader Park Jin-hyuk, Global Tourism Industry Team Leader Lee Jun, and Deputy General Manager Ahn Sang-woo.
In particular, the two organizations discussed concrete cooperation measures, such as:
Developing tourism products and contents connecting Seoul and Gangwon
Joint PR and marketing to attract domestic and international tourists
Sharing tourism information and business know-how
Promoting each other's regional tourism content
Implementing linked projects to extend tourists' length of stay and increase local spending
Going beyond simple institutional exchanges, the two organizations plan to step-by-step pursue cooperative projects that tourists can truly experience, utilizing their respective businesses and PR channels for joint campaigns, cross-promotion of tourism content, and tourism product linkages.
Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "I sincerely congratulate CEO Kim Byung-min on his inauguration. Moving forward, we will actively link the strengths and tourism resources of Seoul and Gangwon to expand tourism demand from the metropolitan area into Gangwon, creating practical cooperation projects that provide domestic and international tourists with even more diverse and attractive travel experiences."
Meanwhile, the Gangwon Tourism Organization and the Seoul Tourism Organization signed a business agreement in February 2023 for the vitalization of tourism and win-win cooperation between Gangwon and Seoul. Since then, they have been pursuing joint projects in various fields, including hosting inbound Gangwon tourism briefings linked with the Seoul International Travel Mart (SITM), operating invitation tours (fam tours) for Hallyu tourism product development, and supporting joint MICE attraction systems.
