GYEONGJU, North Gyeongsang Province – The North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency announced on the 11th that it has launched a joint campaign to promote basic public order in Gyeongju's Hwangnidan-gil, a popular tourist destination, to ensure the successful hosting of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

The six-month campaign, which will run until December, aims to enhance public awareness and promote a culture of proper behavior among both local and international visitors. Approximately 20 police officers from the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency's Crime Prevention and Response Division, the Gyeongju Police Station, and the Seonggeon Police Substation are distributing promotional materials to tourists, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public order.

The initiative focuses on preventing and educating the public about common violations, including the unauthorized posting of advertisements, illegal dumping of garbage, public intoxication, dining and dashing, and ticket scalping. Through joint patrols, authorities will actively engage with the public to deter such acts and encourage a more disciplined environment.

Commissioner Oh Bu-myeong of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency stated, "With the APEC Summit just around the corner, countries from all over the world are paying close attention to South Korea." He added, "We will do our utmost to present an image of a well-ordered nation that is befitting of this global spotlight."

This campaign is part of a broader effort to prepare the host city for the influx of foreign dignitaries, media, and tourists. By addressing minor infractions that can tarnish the city's image, the police are aiming to ensure a pleasant and secure experience for all attendees.
