Seoul, South Korea – Lotte Group, a major South Korean conglomerate, and Arbitrum, a leading Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution, are set to deepen their partnership to revolutionize the metaverse. The two companies are actively exploring ways to integrate Arbitrum's robust blockchain infrastructure into Lotte's virtual world platform, Calverse.
According to a recent report by CoinDesk, Arbitrum is poised to offer Lotte an unprecedented level of support, providing a substantial grant of ARB tokens. This strategic move aims to accelerate the development of Calverse and introduce a new era of digital experiences.
Once integrated, Calverse users will be able to seamlessly conduct transactions within the metaverse using digital assets. This will enable a wide range of activities, from virtual shopping and concerts to immersive gaming experiences, all powered by blockchain technology.
Steven Goldfeder, CEO of Offchain Labs, the team behind Arbitrum, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the synergy between Arbitrum's high-speed blockchain and Calverse's immersive virtual world. "Arbitrum's 250ms block time is perfectly suited to power the dynamic and interactive experiences that Calverse offers," Goldfeder said. "Together, we can create even more engaging and rewarding experiences for users."
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the convergence of traditional industries and the metaverse. As Arbitrum continues to expand its presence in the gaming sector, with over 119 games and 23 game-specific blockchains under its belt, the collaboration with Lotte is poised to attract more traditional businesses to explore the potential of the metaverse.
