Showcasing cultural products for citizens and visitors through collaboration with a youth design project

The Hangeul Store, operated by the Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation (CEO Park Young-guk), is launching 10 new designs of "Our Neighborhood Hangeul T-Shirts," which capture the local characteristics of Sejong City and the formative beauty of Hangeul, available at both online and offline Hangeul Store locations.

"Our Neighborhood Hangeul T-Shirts" are cultural products that reinterpret the etymology and stories behind the names of Sejong City's neighborhoods using Hangeul typography. The morphological characteristics of each place name were transformed into design elements, turning Sejong's neighborhood names into artistic designs.

This product line was developed in collaboration with "Si-eup-sa-i Project," a youth design startup in Sejong City. By combining the creative ideas of young people who record and design local place names with the commercialization expertise of the Hangeul Store, these products are officially introduced as cultural goods.

With five new designs added to the existing five, a complete lineup of 10 items has been created. Capturing the diverse stories of Sejong City—from modern spaces in the new city to neighborhoods with long histories—the shirts instill a sense of affection for the region in citizens and offer a special keepsake for visitors.

The Foundation expects this product release to serve as an opportunity for Hangeul to expand beyond a mere alphabet into an everyday living culture that people can wear, use, and cherish.

Yang Yoo-jung, Director of the Hangeul Culture City Center, stated, "The 'Our Neighborhood Hangeul T-Shirts' started from the perspective of viewing the neighborhood names we call every day as cultural products." She added, "Through this product release, we hope to introduce the diverse stories of Sejong's regions more familiarly to citizens and visitors." She further noted, "We will continue to uncover the names and stories of various places in Sejong and present diverse cultural products that allow people to experience regional identity through Hangeul."
