Seoul, South Korea – GoodPeople, an international humanitarian aid NGO, announced on November 22nd that it will be distributing 80 million won worth of kimchi to 2,000 vulnerable households across South Korea as part of its "Everyone's Winter" campaign.
In collaboration with 15 partner organizations in six regions, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gumi, Gwangju, Gwangyang, and Busan, GoodPeople will be delivering 20 tons of kimchi, or 10 kilograms per household, to vulnerable communities by December 7th.
As part of this initiative, GoodPeople, along with the Eunpyeong District Resident Welfare Center, Mapo District Comprehensive Welfare Center, Eunpyeong District Community Welfare Council, and Nokbeon-dong Community Council, delivered kimchi to 400 vulnerable households on November 22nd. Volunteers from GoodPeople and the Nokbeon-dong Community Council actively participated in the entire process, from making the kimchi to delivering it to households.
Jung Jin-heon, the head of the Nokbeon-dong Community Council, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Our community council and neighborhood association volunteered to participate in this kimchi-sharing event for our vulnerable neighbors. Given the rising cost of kimchi these days, I believe many of the recipients will be grateful for this generous donation."
GoodPeople initiated this project to alleviate the financial burden faced by many households due to rising food prices.
Kim Cheon-su, president of GoodPeople, said, "We hope that our neighbors can enjoy a warm winter with our delicious kimchi. We ask for your continued support so that GoodPeople can continue to spread positive influence."
Since 2020, GoodPeople has been operating a meal support program called "Everyone's Meal," providing nutritious meals to people who have difficulty securing food.
