Lee Joo-eun, the cheerleader who gained fame for her 'Ppikki Ppikki dance', has reportedly received a hefty contract as she moves to Taiwan's professional baseball league.
According to local media reports, Fubon Angels, a Taiwanese cheerleader team, has signed Lee for a contract of 10 million Taiwan dollars (approximately 442,000 US dollars). This amount is said to be much higher than the average annual salary of Taiwanese professional baseball players.
However, Fubon Angels has declined to comment on the details of the contract, stating that it is confidential and cannot be disclosed.
Lee's move to Taiwan has sparked a heated debate among local fans. Some fans have criticized the high contract amount, questioning whether a cheerleader's value is greater than that of a player. Others have defended the decision, arguing that Lee's popularity and entertainment value justify the investment.
Lee, who is 20 years old, became a sensation last season while cheering for the KBO League's KIA Tigers. Her 'Ppikki Ppikki dance', also known as the 'Strikeout Song', went viral on YouTube, garnering millions of views and even attracting attention from international media such as the New York Times.
Lee's move to Taiwan is expected to bring more attention to the league and attract new fans. Her performance in the upcoming season is highly anticipated.
