DAEJEON — Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo hosted a special celebration on Tuesday for triplet sisters who recently reached their 100-day milestone. The event honored the parents, Jeon Yu-gyeong and Park Jun-yong, both city employees, and highlighted the city's commitment to supporting new families.

The triplets, named Soyoon, Chaeyoon, and Choyoon, were born on June 2nd. Their mother, Jeon, works for the Daejeon Waterworks Headquarters, and their father, Park, works in the Seogu Office's Senior and Disabled Persons Division. Following the birth, Jeon shared a message of gratitude on the city's internal network, thanking her colleagues for their support and acknowledging the city's family-friendly policies. Her post was met with an outpouring of well wishes and encouragement from coworkers.

At the celebration, Mayor Lee offered his congratulations and well wishes. "The 100th day is a meaningful milestone, giving thanks that the newborn has adapted well to the world and wishing for their continued healthy growth," he said. The Mayor also emphasized the city's role in child-rearing, stating, "We will pursue more effective care policies with the mindset that the community raises our children together."

The parents expressed their thanks to the city, crediting flexible work arrangements like telecommuting and childcare leave for a smooth pregnancy and delivery. "We will raise our children to be grateful and to share kindness with others," the couple added.

The celebration was a collaborative effort. Im Jae-gyeong, CEO of The Bamboo, a local baby products company, attended and generously donated baby supplies worth approximately 900,000 KRW. Lee Jong-ik, Director of the Waterworks Headquarters, also pledged to create a more family-friendly workplace culture, proactively helping and supporting employees to utilize the city's various maternity and parental leave policies.

Daejeon has been actively promoting a range of pro-natal policies since the start of the 8th popular election. These initiatives, which include maternity leave, compensation for a colleague who handles tasks during leave, and childcare product support, have contributed to a steady increase in marriage rates and births in the city.
