AYYAVARAM, Andhra Pradesh – 3F Oil Palm Pvt Ltd has successfully completed a pioneering drone survey in Ayyavaram Village, West Godavari district, marking a significant advancement in the application of technology to support palm oil farmers in India. The pilot project, conducted over three days, covered approximately 1,150 hectares of land, encompassing 800 plots belonging to 530 farmers.
The survey utilized drones equipped with precise GPS mapping to meticulously count trees, assess plant health, and estimate fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production. This initiative aims to provide farmers with real-time data, enabling early detection of issues such as pest infestations or nutrient deficiencies.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to leveraging technology for smarter and more efficient farming,” stated Kilari Srinivas Rao, Head – Agriculture for 3F Oil Palm Pvt Ltd. “With the success of this pilot project, we aim to expand drone-based surveys across India, covering 30,000 hectares, 14,000 farmers, and 21,000 plots, supporting farmers with advanced agricultural solutions.”
The company believes that the data collected from these drone surveys will empower farmers to make more informed decisions, leading to increased yields and improved tree health. By providing accurate and timely information, 3F Oil Palm seeks to enhance the overall productivity and sustainability of palm oil farming.
Looking ahead, 3F Oil Palm plans to scale this program nationwide, bringing precision farming tools to a broader network of farmers. This strategic expansion is aligned with the company’s vision of integrating modern technology with traditional farming practices to boost India’s palm oil output and promote self-reliance in edible oils.
3F Oil Palm Pvt Ltd, a key player in India’s Oil Palm Development Program since the early 1990s, operates across five Indian states. The company remains dedicated to advancing sustainable oil palm farming and contributing to the nation’s agricultural progress.
