Silicon Valley — In a breakthrough for domestic automation, the vision of a robot butler has moved a step closer to reality. US-based robotics startup Figure AI has unveiled a demonstration of its third-generation humanoid model, Figure 03, autonomously performing complex household chores that were once considered the exclusive domain of human dexterity.
From Coffee Tables to Cushions
In the released footage, Figure 03 exhibits a level of fluid, human-like motion that distinguishes it from its predecessors. The robot begins by spraying a cleaning agent onto a coffee table and wiping it meticulously with a cloth. It then identifies a white mug, picks it up with precision, and relocates it to the kitchen island.
The demonstration continues with the robot tidying up scattered debris into a trash can and neatly rearranging sofa cushions. Unlike traditional programmed robots, Figure 03 completes these tasks through data-driven learning, allowing it to adapt to the unpredictable clutter of a standard living room.
The Intelligence Behind the Motion: Helix 02
The core of this advancement lies in Helix 02, Figure AI's latest AI system. This upgraded neural network marks a significant shift from upper-body-centric control to full-body integration.
"By training on over 1,000 hours of human movement data, we have successfully integrated walking, balance, and object manipulation into a single, unified neural network," a spokesperson for Figure AI stated.
This holistic approach allows the robot to maintain balance while reaching for objects or applying pressure during cleaning—a feat that requires constant, micro-adjustments across the entire mechanical frame.
The Future of Domestic Labor
Industry experts note that this demonstration is a pivotal moment for the robotics sector. It proves that AI can now simultaneously handle mobility, delicate manipulation, and tool usage in real-world environments.
As hardware costs continue to decrease and AI learning efficiency increases, the possibility of humanoids becoming a staple in middle-class households is no longer a matter of "if," but "when." For now, Figure 03 stands as a testament to how far generative motion AI has come in bridging the gap between digital intelligence and physical labor.
