G-Dragon, the iconic leader of the K-pop group BIGBANG, has made a triumphant return to the music scene with his new digital single, "POWER." Released on October 31st, the track has quickly risen to the top of South Korea's major music charts.
The song features G-Dragon's signature rap style over a catchy beat, produced in collaboration with Tommy Brown, Theron Thomas, and Steven Franks, who have worked with global pop stars like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd. G-Dragon also penned the lyrics, which are characterized by their direct yet ambiguous nature.
Within minutes of its release, "POWER" claimed the second spot on Melon's Top 100 chart and has since continued to dominate various music charts. The accompanying music video on YouTube has also garnered millions of views.
G-Dragon's comeback marks the end of a seven-year hiatus following his 2017 solo album, "KWON JI YONG." During this period, he faced a drug-related investigation but was cleared of all charges. In a recent appearance on the popular South Korean variety show "You Quiz on the Block," G-Dragon expressed his desire to return to music and his determination to make a successful comeback.
Fans are eagerly anticipating G-Dragon's performance at the 2024 MAMA Awards on November 23rd, where he is set to take the stage for the first time in years. With "POWER," G-Dragon has solidified his status as one of K-pop's most influential artists and has set a high bar for future releases.
