Small Business Ombudsman's New YouTube Shorts Series Gains Traction

Seoul, South Korea – The Small Business Ombudsman's newly launched YouTube Shorts series, "Regulatory Stories You Don't Need to Know," is captivating viewers and driving significant growth on the platform.
Launched in September, the series presents the Ombudsman's regulatory reform achievements in concise, 40-60-second videos. Departing from the traditional, stiff style of government communications, the series employs engaging storytelling and witty expressions, earning positive feedback for its refreshing approach.
One particularly well-received episode addressed the repeal of the gaming shutdown system, a controversial policy that restricted online gaming for minors during certain hours. The video featured a dramatic reenactment of youth protesting the policy, coupled with a detailed account of the Ombudsman's persistent efforts to overturn it over five years.
Other episodes highlighted the Ombudsman's success in easing regulations on indoor air quality in PC cafes and simplifying the licensing process for food trucks. By presenting complex regulatory issues in a relatable and humorous manner, the series has effectively resonated with the public.
Since the series' launch, the Ombudsman's official YouTube channel has experienced a surge in both views and subscribers. Total views have climbed from approximately 140,000 in late August to over 1.2 million, while the subscriber count has jumped tenfold from 110 to over 1,200. This growth is attributed to the series' alignment with current content trends.
"We've worked hard to make complex regulatory issues accessible and entertaining for both businesses and the general public," said Kim, the Ombudsman official responsible for the series. "We will continue to explore various content formats to enhance our communication efforts."
The series' success demonstrates the potential of leveraging popular online platforms to engage citizens and promote government initiatives. By adopting a more informal and visually appealing approach, the Small Business Ombudsman has effectively captured the attention of a wider audience and positioned itself as a champion of regulatory reform.
