Magok, Seoul – E-Mart's warehouse-style discount store, Traders, opened its new Magok branch on February 14th, 2025, to much fanfare. The store recorded a whopping ₩2 billion in sales on its opening day, breaking the previous record for the highest single-day sales by a Traders branch.
The Magok branch is the second Traders store in Seoul, following the Wolgye branch which opened in 2019. Despite having a smaller catchment population than the Wolgye branch, the Magok branch outperformed it in terms of opening day sales.
The Magok area has a higher proportion of 3-4 person households (31.5%) compared to the Seoul average (29.2%), making it a prime location for a warehouse-style store. On the opening day, the store was bustling with families doing their grocery shopping.
Customers were drawn to the store's wide selection of discounted items, including fresh seafood, imported meats, and large-sized sushi platters. The store sold over 4 tons of strawberries, 10 tons of imported meats, 1,000 sushi platters, and 500kg of salmon on the opening day alone.
The Magok branch also caters to the needs of the local office workers by offering a wide range of office supplies and hosting promotional events for popular brands like Logitech and Gundam. The store's exclusive "Kim Chang-soo Whisky Single Cask" was also a hot seller.
One of the key features of the Magok branch is its large-scale "road show" space, where special items are showcased for a limited time. The Gundam road show, featuring capsule 뽑기 machines and model assembly areas, was particularly popular among customers.
The E-Mart Traders Magok branch is expected to become a major shopping destination in the Magok area, attracting customers with its wide selection of products, competitive prices, and unique shopping experience.
