DMZ Trekking Event for Peace to be Held Around the Punchbowl Area in Yanggu on Saturday, October 10

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Woo Sang-ho, hereinafter referred to as the Province) and the Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Sung-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Organization) will host the "Road & Peace DMZ Festa" on October 10 around the National DMZ Native Botanical Garden and the Punchbowl Dulle-gil trails in Yanggu-gun.

This event is designed to promote the ecological value of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), which bears the sorrow of national division, and to vitalize tourism in the peace region. Approximately 800 participants are expected to join through pre-registration.

The main highlight of the event, the walking tour (trekking) competition, will take place starting at 10 a.m. along the Punchbowl Dulle-gil (Songgabong-gil course, a 4km round trip). Prior to the official departure, a "Peace Pinwheel Departure Celebration" will be held, with all participants holding and waving peace pinwheels to add meaning to the event. Various side event sections, such as OX quizzes, will be operated along the trekking course, and completion souvenirs will be provided to all finishers.

Starting at 2 p.m., a "DMZ Peace Concert" will be held at the main stage. Performances by various artists, including singer Kim Jo-han, are expected to deliver moving moments to visitors who have visited the DMZ on an autumn day.

Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "We are doing our utmost in safety management and convenience provision so that participants can fully enjoy the beautiful nature of the DMZ and reflect on the meaning of peace," adding, "We ask for the great interest and participation of tourists in this event, which reflects on the meaning of peace."
