GAPYEONG, South Korea — The integrated cultural theme park, Petit France & Italian Village, located in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, has announced the launch of its 4th Pinocchio and The Little Prince Starlight Festival, set to run through the end of February next year.
Under the theme "A Winter Light Journey in a Fairytale," the festival is transforming the twin villages into a scene of European winter romance, utilizing elaborate lighting, specialized exhibitions, hands-on activities, and performances. This seasonal event is designed to immerse domestic and international visitors in the unique ambiance of a European storybook village.
A key highlight of this year's festival is the 'Winter House,' a specially curated space in the main square of the Italian Village, which draws inspiration from the tale of Pinocchio. The house features Christmas decorations, a picturesque photo zone, and a dedicated children's experience area, all contributing to a charming winter atmosphere.
The villages are planning a particularly romantic setting for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with warm lighting planned to enhance the festive mood across the entire complex. Entertainment options include indoor performances like the puppet show 'Little Red Riding Hood,' the traditional European string puppet show 'Marionette Performance,' and a hands-on workshop for crafting Venetian masks.
Meanwhile, Petit France, known for its landscape reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast and inspired by The Little Prince, has expanded its 'Outdoor Photo Zones.' The area now features numerous starlight sculptures, illuminated streets, and designated spots for capturing winter-themed photographs. Petit France has long enjoyed popularity as the filming location for hit K-dramas, including Beethoven Virus, Secret Garden, and My Love from the Star, with the recent drama Tyrant's Chef also filming its premiere episode here and at the adjacent Pinocchio & Da Vinci complex.
The Pinocchio Village, situated next to Petit France, is an attraction in itself, designed to evoke the imagery of a medieval fortress and the "City of Water," Venice, featuring six themed buildings and a central square.
This Starlight Festival offers a compelling reason for tourists to visit Gapyeong during the colder months, providing a unique blend of European architecture, cultural performances, and a dazzling display of winter lights.
