The Original Soundtrack (OST) single 'Golden' from the hit Netflix animated film, K-Pop Demon Hunters, has achieved a massive new milestone, securing its eighth non-consecutive week at number one on the UK's Official Singles Chart Top 100. The track, performed by the film's fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, now holds a historical position by equalling a record set over five decades ago.

The latest chart update, released on September 26th (local time), confirmed 'Golden' successfully defended the top spot against fierce competition, including a strong challenge from British pop star Olivia Dean's 'Man I Need'. The song has now logged eight total weeks at the summit, including a current run of seven consecutive weeks.

Matching a Five-Decade-Old Animated Record

This monumental achievement puts the K-Pop Demon Hunters anthem in a tie for the longest-running number one single by an animated act in the history of the Official Singles Chart. According to the Official Charts Company, 'Golden' has drawn level with The Archies' 'Sugar, Sugar,' which achieved the same eight-week feat back in 1969. This cements 'Golden' and 'Sugar, Sugar' as the longest-running animated OSTs to ever top the Official Singles Chart.

The success underscores the immense cultural impact and commercial momentum of the Netflix film, which features the K-pop girl group HUNTR/X—composed of main protagonist Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—who secretly hunt demons while maintaining their superstar idol careers. The in-film group is voiced and sung by real-life Korean-American artists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, whose creative collaboration has propelled the track to global success.

Soundtrack Dominance Continues

'Golden' is far from the only hit from the popular soundtrack dominating the UK charts. The K-Pop Demon Hunters OST boasts a strong presence in the Top 10, with two other tracks also charting highly: 'Soda Pop' sits at No. 5 and 'Your Idol' follows closely behind at No. 6. A third OST track, 'Takedown,' rounds out the soundtrack's success in the Top 40, placing at No. 25.

Beyond the animated phenomenon, several established K-pop-adjacent acts continue to perform well on the UK chart. TWICE's 'STRATEGY' landed at No. 38, while the HYBE global girl group KATSEYE's 'Gabriela' charted at No. 40. Furthermore, the duet 'APT.' by BLACKPINK's Rosé and pop star Bruno Mars demonstrated impressive longevity, charting at No. 58 and marking its 49th consecutive week in the Top 100.

The continued, record-tying success of 'Golden' on the UK charts solidifies K-Pop Demon Hunters as a major force in the global music landscape, proving that a well-executed animated OST can compete with, and even surpass, established mainstream pop hits.
