Gangwon-do Unveils Spring Travel Hotspots for 'Visit Gangwon Year 2025-2026'

Gangwon-do, South Korea – In anticipation of the 'Visit Gangwon Year 2025-2026', Gangwon-do has revealed its top travel destinations for March and April, showcasing the region's diverse natural beauty and cultural attractions.

March Highlights: Lakeside Charm and Mountainous Vistas

For March, the spotlight shines on Chuncheon's Uiam Lake and Wonju's Sogeumsan Grand Valley.

Chuncheon's Uiam Lake (Sairo 248 Suspension Bridge):This man-made lake, created by the construction of Uiam Dam in 1967, is renowned for its picturesque walking trails.
The newly opened Sairo 248 Suspension Bridge (12m high, 248m long) offers breathtaking panoramic views of Gongjicheon Stream, Uiam Lake, Legoland, and Chuncheon Bridge, quickly becoming a must-visit landmark.
Wonju's Sogeumsan Grand Valley:Recognized as one of the '2025-2026 Korea Tourism 100' by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, this destination is rapidly gaining popularity.
The recent opening of a cable car in February provides convenient access for visitors of all ages to enjoy the scenic landscapes.
April Delights: Floral Festivals and Riverside Blooms

April's recommendations feature the vibrant colors of Samcheok and Yangyang.

Samcheok Maengbang Canola Flower Festival:Held annually in April in Sangmaengbang-ri, Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok-si, this festival offers a variety of hands-on activities and local food events.
The striking contrast between the bright yellow canola flowers and the deep blue East Sea creates an unforgettable visual experience.
Yangyang Namdaecheon Cherry Blossom Road:This 3km-long cherry blossom path along the Namdaecheon riverbank is surrounded by attractions such as the Salmon Ecology Park, Naksansa Temple, and Naksan Beach.
Namdaecheon, one of the '10 Scenic Views of Yangyang', presents a harmonious blend of pink cherry blossoms and the flowing river, sure to delight visitors.

Promotional Efforts and Recognition

To further promote these destinations, Gangwon-do and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation are launching several initiatives:

Gangwon Tourism Accommodation Sale:Offering accommodation discount vouchers for the recommended travel destinations.
Gangwon Tourism Challenge Promotion:Providing local gift certificates and other rewards based on the success of completing tourism challenge missions.
Additionally, the Korea Tourism Organization announced that three Gangwon-do attractions – Yangyang Seoraksan Mountain Jujeongol, Gangneung Gangmun Beach, and Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Samyang Ranch – have been included in the 'Top 30 Scenic Views of Korea' selected by Japanese travel experts.

Gangwon-do tourism bureau director Kim Sung-rim stated, “We will do our best to encourage more people to visit Gangwon-do through the Gangwon Tourism Accommodation Sale and Challenge Promotion.”
