Seoul City has given the green light to three redevelopment projects, including the Supo Urban Renewal Project, which will see the construction of a 33-story building in the Cheonggye-cheon area.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on November 1st that its 7th Urban Renewal Integrated Review Committee had approved the three projects the previous day.
The Supo Urban Renewal Project involves the construction of a 33-story building with seven basement levels and a total floor area of 172,159 square meters on a site located at 237 Ipjeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. The project will include a mix of commercial, retail, cultural, and assembly facilities. Additionally, an open green space connecting to the nearby Cheonggye-cheon stream will be created. The Supo area is situated adjacent to Cheonggye-cheon to the north, Euljiro 3-ga Station and the Seun Redevelopment Promotion District to the east.
The approximately 5,060 square meter open green space will be developed into a recreational and pedestrian area, allowing citizens to enjoy the urban forest and leisure activities. Retail facilities, a sunken plaza, and an underground cultural exhibition hall will also be located around the green space.
Meanwhile, the Donam 6 Housing Redevelopment Project, located at 48-29 Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, will involve the construction of a 25-story apartment complex with seven basement levels and a total of 900 housing units near Gilgeum Station on Seoul Subway Line 4. Seoul City noted that this project marks the first instance where a comprehensive plan change review was included in the integrated review committee for a housing redevelopment project.
In addition, the Shinrim 2 Urban Renewal Promotion District Housing Redevelopment Project, located at 324-25 Shinrim-dong, Gwanak-gu, will include the construction of 20 apartment buildings with a maximum of 28 floors, two religious facilities, and a park. Seoul City anticipates that the approval of this project will enable construction to begin in 2025.
