Seoul, South Korea – The race for the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour's Player of the Year and Money Title is set to reach a thrilling climax at the SK Telecom SK Shieldus Championship, the season-ending tournament.
Yun Ina, Park Hyun-kyung, and Park Ji-young have been locked in a fierce battle throughout the season, and the outcome will be determined at the final event, which will be held at La Vie Belle Golf Club in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province from November 8th to 10th.
To add to the excitement, the KLPGA has increased the points awarded for the final tournament, making it a major factor in determining the season's top honors. The winner of the SK Telecom SK Shieldus Championship will receive 100 points towards the Player of the Year award, while the runner-up will earn 50 points.
Yun Ina currently leads the Player of the Year race with 535 points, followed by Park Hyun-kyung with 503 points and Park Ji-young with 487 points. However, a victory for either Park Hyun-kyung or Park Ji-young would be enough to overtake Yun Ina.
The Money Title race is also incredibly tight. Yun Ina, Park Hyun-kyung, and Park Ji-young are all within striking distance of the top prize. A win for any of the three would put them in a strong position to secure the Money Title.
The KLPGA Tour's final tournaments have consistently produced dramatic finishes. Last year, Im Jin-hee secured the Player of the Year and Money Title with a victory in the season-ending event. In 2023, Park Min-ji claimed her second consecutive victory in the final tournament.
As the golfers tee off at La Vie Belle Golf Club, fans can expect an exciting and unpredictable finish to the 2024 KLPGA Tour season.
