Kim Jung-nam secures 4 gold medals, Cho Jung-du takes 3 gold medals at the 2026 Changwon WSPS World Championships

Following their sweep of medals in the preliminary matches of the National Sports Festival, the Sejong City-affiliated BDH paras shooting team continued their winning streak on the international stage.

Four athletes from the Sejong City shooting team selected as national representatives competed in the "2026 Changwon WSPS (World Shooting Para Sport) World Championships," held at the Changwon International Shooting Range from the 7th to the 16th, winning a total of 9 medals, including 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal.

In the individual events, Cho Jung-du won the gold medal in the P1 men's air pistol, setting a new world record.

Kim Jung-nam won a silver medal in the P5 mixed standard air pistol and a bronze medal in the P4 mixed 50m pistol.

Sejong's athletes continued their strong performance in the team events as well.

Kim Jung-nam, Cho Jung-du (BDH paras), and Park Chul (Cheongju City Hall) combined to win gold medals in both the P1 and P4 events.

In the P3 mixed 25m team event, Kim Jung-nam, Choi Jae-yoon (BDH paras), and Park Se-kyun (Chungnam) won the gold medal by tying the world record.

In the P5 mixed team event, Kim Jung-nam, Park Se-kyun, and Kim Sung-hee (Cheongju City Hall) worked together to claim the gold medal.

Additionally, Cho Jung-du and Moon Ae-kyung (Gyeongnam) won the silver medal in the P6 mixed team air pistol, while Yoon Ye-bin (BDH paras), Lee Yoon-ri (Wando-gun Office), and Kim Mi-young (Incheon City Hall) secured the silver medal in the R2 women's air rifle standing team event.

In this competition, Kim Jung-nam became a 4-time champion in team events, while Cho Jung-du achieved 3-time champion status, including both individual and team competitions.

Lim Gyu-mo, Secretary General of the Sejong City Para-Sports Council, expressed, "I am delighted that our athletes achieved such outstanding results on the international stage," and added, "We will continue our support so that our athletes can perform at their absolute best in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games."
