In a strategic move to navigate the rapidly evolving financial landscape and bolster its competitive edge in core future businesses, Koscom, the leader in South Korea’s capital market IT infrastructure, announced a comprehensive organizational restructuring on June 30.

The reorganization is built upon three foundational pillars: maximizing business execution capabilities, pioneering new business models in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data, and strengthening responsiveness to external regulatory policies.

Elevating Core Business Competitiveness

To enhance the momentum of its primary operations, Koscom has upgraded key divisions. The Market Business Office under the Capital Market Division and the Financial Product Planning Office under the Financial Business Division have been expanded into the "Market Business Department" and the "Financial Product Planning Department," respectively. This structural upgrade is designed to refine business planning functions and support more agile, market-responsive project execution.

Pioneering AI and Digital Transformation

Recognizing the paradigm shift driven by Digital Transformation (DX) and the rise of Generative AI, Koscom has established a specialized task force, the "Data Convergence Business TF Department." This unit is tasked with spearheading the development of integrated data business models and managing the construction of platforms that leverage cutting-edge technologies like Generative AI. Furthermore, to concentrate expertise in System Integration (SI) and IT Outsourcing (ITO), a new "SI/ITO Business Team" has been formed to solidify the company's competitive foundation in infrastructure services.

Strengthening External Communication and Internal Innovation

The restructuring also recalibrates Koscom’s interface with financial authorities and the broader external environment. A newly established "External Cooperation Office" will enhance policy responsiveness, while the public relations function, previously part of the external cooperation department, has been elevated to an independent "PR Department" to improve the professionalism and reach of both internal and external communication.

Moreover, the company has launched the "HR Innovation TF Department" under the Management Support Division. This body is charged with the fundamental improvement of the organization’s corporate constitution and the development of future-oriented talent, signaling a commitment to long-term organizational health.

Strategic Vision for the Future

"This organizational overhaul is a strategic decision to proactively respond to rapidly changing technology trends and maximize customer value as the leading capital market IT firm," a Koscom representative stated. "Through these newly established specialized departments, we intend to solidify the substance of our core businesses and secure a solid foundation for our next leap forward."

As the financial sector faces unprecedented changes driven by data-driven technologies, Koscom’s recent structural shift underscores its ambition to transition from a traditional IT infrastructure provider to a comprehensive financial technology powerhouse. By placing AI and data at the forefront of its operations, the company is positioning itself to not only adapt to the digital age but to define the next generation of capital market infrastructure.

This restructuring marks a turning point for Koscom, as it seeks to harmonize its traditional strengths in stable IT operations with the dynamic requirements of the AI-led future, ultimately aiming to deliver more sophisticated and value-added solutions to the capital market participants it serves.
