SEOUL — LG Electronics announced on Dec. 26 that it will launch its next-generation gaming monitor lineup, the "LG UltraGear Evo," featuring integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. By introducing on-device AI capabilities directly into its hardware, the South Korean tech giant aims to solidify its dominance in the global premium gaming market.

The UltraGear Evo series, which includes 27-inch, 39-inch, and 52-inch models, is set to make its official debut at CES 2026, the world’s largest IT and consumer electronics exhibition, opening on January 6 in Las Vegas. This marks the first time LG Electronics has introduced a dedicated "Evo" premium tier within its established UltraGear gaming brand.

Breakthrough in Visual Fidelity: 5K AI Upscaling
The centerpiece of the new lineup is the "5K AI Upscaling" solution, featured in the 27-inch and 39-inch models. This technology allows users to enjoy any video content at 5K resolution ($5120 times 2880$), regardless of the original source quality.

Typically, achieving such high-fidelity visuals requires a significant upgrade to a PC's Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). However, the UltraGear Evo utilizes internal on-device AI to process and enhance pixels within the monitor itself. This allows gamers to experience sharper, more vivid imagery without the added cost of high-end PC hardware.

An Intelligent Gaming Ecosystem
Beyond resolution, LG has integrated several "smart" features to automate the user experience:

AI Scene Optimization: The monitor automatically detects the genre of the game or video being played and adjusts contrast, color, and response times to provide the optimal visual setting for that specific content.
AI Sound: This feature analyzes audio output in real-time, distinguishing between sound effects, background music, and character voices. It then delivers a customized audio profile, providing an immersive soundscape without requiring manual calibration from the user.

Expanding the Ultra-Wide Horizon
For enthusiasts seeking maximum immersion, LG is also introducing a massive 52-inch UltraGear model. This flagship unit features a curved 5K display, designed to wrap around the user’s field of vision and provide a cinematic gaming experience.

"The UltraGear Evo represents a paradigm shift in how monitors contribute to the gaming experience," said an industry analyst. "By moving AI processing from the PC to the display, LG is lowering the barrier for ultra-high-definition gaming while enhancing convenience through automation."

LG’s strategic move comes as the demand for premium gaming peripherals continues to grow. Following the CES 2026 showcase, the company plans to roll out the UltraGear Evo series globally, targeting pro-gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.
