Luque, Paraguay – The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) has inaugurated a brand-new hotel tower as part of the Gran Bourbon Asunción complex, situated in the city of Luque. The Río Hotel by Bourbon is anticipated to host delegations attending the 75th FIFA Ordinary Congress, scheduled to take place in Paraguay in just six days.

The grand opening of the Río Hotel was celebrated with the presence of Paraguay's President Santiago Peña and CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez. The strategically located hotel is adjacent to CONMEBOL's headquarters, which will serve as the meeting point for delegates from six confederations and 211 FIFA-affiliated federations next Thursday.

In a celebratory address, Mr. Domínguez highlighted the significance of the new facility, stating, "Seven months ago, this was an empty lot. Today, with this inauguration, we have become the largest hotel and convention center in the Republic of Paraguay." He further revealed that CONMEBOL invested eight million US dollars in the construction of the new tower.

Mr. Domínguez also emphasized the importance of the upcoming FIFA Congress, which marks its first occurrence in Paraguay and its return to South America after an 11-year hiatus. He noted that the event "transcends the football pitches."

"Starting this week, we will have people from all over the world coming here. For the first time in the history of South American football, there will be a FIFA Congress that is not linked to the organization of a World Cup," Mr. Domínguez underscored.

The Río Hotel features 80 guest rooms, a restaurant, and an event hall capable of accommodating 130 people, among other amenities. According to Alceu Vezozzo Filho, President of the Bourbon hotel chain, the construction of the new tower "mobilized more than 250 companies and contractors" and was completed "in record time."

A press release from CONMEBOL stated that the new infrastructure seamlessly integrates with the existing Gran Bourbon Hotel Asunción complex, which includes the CONMEBOL Convention Center, collectively creating a space spanning 4,200 square meters. This expansion underscores CONMEBOL's commitment to providing world-class facilities for international football events.
