The organizing committee of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Exposition has announced a major enhancement to its performance and interactive contents, actively reflecting early feedback from visitors since its grand opening. As the season transitions into autumn, creating more comfortable weather conditions during the afternoon and evening hours, the expo is scaling up its afternoon and night programs to offer a seamless experience stretching from daytime exhibitions well into the evening.

Weekly Concerts Meeting the Yeosu Night Sea and Music

To maximize the romantic autumn atmosphere along the coast, the organizing committee is heavily upgrading live performances at the Open Stage located within the main venue in the Dolsan Jinmo District. Starting this weekend, the "Weekly Concert" series will kick off every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. Set against the stunning backdrop of the twilight Yeosu sea, these 60-minute musical events feature emotional and exciting performances by well-known artists, offering a unique charm exclusive to the island exposition. 

The inaugural concert weekend features prominent singers from popular Korean television music programs. On Friday, Jang Han-byul and Jung Yeon-ho, who gained massive recognition on MBN's "Legendary Widow," take the stage. They are followed on Saturday by Kim Yong-bin, Cheon Rok-dam, and Choi Jae-myung from TV Chosun's "Mr. Trot 3." All concerts are completely free and open to any valid expo ticket holder without requiring separate reservations. Building on these weekly concerts, the expo plans to continuously expand outdoor busking and cultural performances to enrich the visitor journey from daytime learning to nighttime entertainment.

Crafting Personalized Memories with Family, Lovers, and Friends

The organizing committee is rolling out diverse interactive programs designed to let visitors become active participants rather than passive observers. Highlights include specialized messaging events utilizing the large-scale media facade at the Theme Island landmark, allowing guests to send heartfelt messages to loved ones. Other engaging activities feature romantic sunset movie screenings, a visible radio broadcast in collaboration with Yeosu City's "Yeosu IPark Music" system, and a scavenger hunt across the main exhibition halls where visitors track down hidden historical artifacts owned by Yeosu City. 

To foster organic online engagement, the expo is also promoting visitation and photo authentication events across five designated hot spots within the grounds. These digital-friendly initiatives aim to naturally amplify the expo's vibrant atmosphere across social media networks.

Driving Weekday and Group Attendance Through Tailored Programs

Recognizing the peak season for autumn field trips and school excursions, the organizing committee is actively targeting group visitors, including children from daycare centers and students from elementary, middle, and high schools. With approximately 40 educational and travel organizations already scheduled for preliminary site inspections, group visits are projected to rise significantly following the Chuseok holiday.

Furthermore, the committee is promoting "Special Day Events" in collaboration with public officials and affiliated organizations from the Jeonnam-Gwangju integrated region, as well as local businesses and civil groups, to boost weekday attendance. Individual exhibition halls are also incorporating localized hands-on elements, such as island-themed food tasting and traditional costume experiences, ensuring a deeply immersive educational journey.

Secretary-General Kim Jong-ki of the organizing committee emphasized that every piece of feedback shared by actual visitors is being carefully reviewed. Because the global event spans 61 days, the committee remains fully committed to swiftly translating field insights into continuous upgrades for performances, exhibits, and participatory programs. 

The 2026 Yeosu World Island Exposition, which officially opened on September 5, runs through November 4 across the Dolsan Jinmo District main venue, the Yeosu Expo Ocean Park, and adjacent island regions including Gaedo and Geumodo.
