SEOUL, South Korea – The Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation and the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) officially formalized a strategic business agreement (MOU) on June 27, 2025, to collaboratively advance multicultural scholarship initiatives. The signing ceremony, held at the Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation's headquarters in Seocho-dong, Seoul, marked a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society for multicultural families in Korea.

Key figures in attendance at the ceremony included Lee Haeng-myung, Chairman of the Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation (also Chairman of Myung-in Pharmaceutical), and Park Jang-beom, President of KBS. They were joined by Lee Jae-jung, head of KBS's Culture & Documentary Center, and KBS announcer Park Ji-won, underscoring the commitment of both organizations to the partnership.

The core objective of this collaboration is to empower children from multicultural families, enabling them to surmount cultural and linguistic barriers and seamlessly integrate into Korean society. The agreement aims to establish a robust framework for mutual cooperation, linking the efforts of both institutions for sustained growth and positive impact.

Under the terms of the MOU, the Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation will play a pivotal role in the production of a special multicultural edition of KBS's popular quiz program, 'Woori Mal Gyoreugi' (Korean Language Battle). The foundation will also actively participate in public awareness campaigns designed to enhance societal understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism. Furthermore, it will facilitate the involvement of multicultural family children in various KBS programs.

In reciprocal efforts, KBS is committed to producing the 'Woori Mal Gyoreugi' multicultural special, a program specifically tailored for multicultural high school and university students. This special broadcast is scheduled to air monthly from September to December, featuring three preliminary rounds between September and November, culminating in a "King of Kings" final round in December. Scholarship funds will be awarded to the winners of both the preliminary rounds and the grand finale, providing tangible support for the academic pursuits of multicultural youth. Additionally, KBS will conceptualize and execute public service campaigns aimed at cultivating greater societal interest and improving perceptions of multicultural families.

Both organizations have committed to ongoing cooperation on all related operational matters, ensuring the comprehensive and effective implementation of their shared goals.

The Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation, established in 2023, embodies the philanthropic vision of its founder, Lee Haeng-myung, also the founder of Myung-in Pharmaceutical. Myung-in Pharmaceutical is a leading entity in the CNS (central nervous system) specialized pharmaceutical sector, widely recognized for its flagship products 'Igatan' and 'Maykin.' The foundation was established with a substantial endowment of 45 billion won from Chairman Lee Haeng-myung's private assets, reflecting Myung-in Pharmaceutical's dedication to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. This initiative serves as a testament to the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility, aiming to give back to the community and contribute to a "harmonious, happy world."

Since its inception, the Myung-in Multicultural Scholarship Foundation has already made significant contributions, having awarded 682 million won in scholarships to a total of 283 students across four rounds. This includes support for 195 middle and high school students and 88 university students, demonstrating the foundation's consistent efforts in nurturing the talents of multicultural youth. The collaboration with KBS is expected to further amplify these efforts, creating broader opportunities and fostering a more supportive environment for multicultural families across the nation.
