The Chungnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 5th that it conducted on-site command training for fire station heads and other officials to respond swiftly and systematically to large-scale fires and various disasters.
The training, held from November 2nd to the 5th at the Cheonan Command Competency Enhancement Center of the Chungcheong Fire Academy, targeted 18 participants including the head of the fire headquarters and fire station heads. It was designed to enhance their ability to cope with real-life situations at disaster sites.
The training utilized virtual reality (VR) technology to simulate environments similar to actual disaster sites, allowing participants to directly command the scenes and handle various situations.
Key training contents included: △ Assessing initial disaster situations and determining response methods, △ Deploying fire engines and rescue personnel, △ Coping with unexpected situations, and △ On-site commanding and media response.
Participants checked their command capabilities required at actual disaster sites by assigning missions to firefighters in virtual large-scale fire scenes and determining response methods tailored to changing on-site conditions.
After the training, expert evaluations were conducted to identify areas for improvement and shortcomings, ensuring a more swift and accurate response at real disaster sites.
The provincial fire headquarters plans to continue strengthening practical, field-oriented training for on-site commanders such as fire station heads to effectively respond to various disasters and protect the lives and property of provincial residents.
Baek Seung-doo, Acting Head of the Chungnam Fire Headquarters, stated, "A commander's swift and accurate judgment at a disaster site is crucial for protecting the lives and safety of residents," adding, "We will do our best to enhance on-site response capabilities through realistic training and safeguard the safety of residents under any disaster circumstances."
