Chungcheongnam-do announced on the 5th that it was selected as the top institution nationwide in the "2026 Livestock Product Safety Management Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
With this selection, the province has claimed the number one spot nationwide for the second consecutive year, following last year.
This achievement is the result of systematic safety management and field-oriented preventive administration implemented across the entire process from livestock production to distribution.
In this evaluation, which targeted 16 cities and provinces nationwide, four categories were comprehensively reviewed: △ livestock product safety management by production and distribution stage, △ revitalization of the honorary livestock product sanitary inspector system, △ prevention and management of illegal livestock products, and △ best practices in livestock product safety management.
The province has worked to preemptively block hazard factors by strengthening hygiene management guidance and inspections for slaughterhouses and livestock processing and distribution companies, as well as continuously conducting sanitary inspections and collection tests on livestock-handling establishments.
In addition, it focused on creating a safe livestock product distribution environment by strengthening guidance and crackdowns to prevent the distribution of illegal and substandard livestock products, and promoting public-private joint monitoring activities with honorary livestock product sanitary inspectors to raise the hygiene management awareness of business operators.
Lee Seung-han, Director-General of the Agriculture and Livestock Bureau of the province, stated, “Being selected as the top institution nationwide for two consecutive years is a valuable achievement accomplished through the joint efforts of the province, cities, counties, and related organizations such as the Provincial Animal Hygiene Testing Station.” He added, “Going forward, we will strengthen hygiene management and safety inspections across all aspects of livestock product production and distribution to foster a supply environment where residents can consume with peace of mind.”
