G-STAR 2024 Kicks Off with Record-Breaking Attendance and Diverse Lineup

Busan, South Korea – The 20th edition of G-STAR, South Korea's largest game exhibition, opened its doors on [date] at BEXCO, Busan. The event, which runs until [date], has attracted a record number of attendees and exhibitors.
Record Attendance and Diverse Lineup
With over 1,375 companies from 44 countries participating, this year's G-STAR boasts a record-breaking 3,359 booths. From the moment the doors opened, fans flocked to the booths of major game companies to get a first look at the latest titles. Long queues formed at popular booths, with some fans waiting over an hour to try out new games.
Attendees of all ages and backgrounds were in attendance, including families, teenagers, and cosplayers. Many attendees were returning visitors, eager to experience the latest gaming trends and meet their favorite developers and streamers.
Shifting Focus Beyond MMORPGs
While massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) have traditionally dominated the Korean gaming market, this year's G-STAR showcased a more diverse range of genres and platforms. Major game companies such as Nexon, Netmarble, and Krafton presented a variety of titles, including action games, simulation games, and indie games.
Nexon, for instance, showcased four new titles, including "First Berserker: Kazan" and "Overkill," both based on the popular "Dungeon & Fighter" universe. Netmarble unveiled "Game of Thrones: King's Road" and the sequel to its popular mobile game "Monster Taming."
Indie Games and Global Platforms
The indie game showcase at G-STAR also expanded significantly this year, featuring 60 independent developers. Steam, the world's largest PC gaming platform, set up a booth to showcase its Steam Deck handheld gaming PC.
