Chungcheongbuk-do Province is taking proactive steps to expand its global economic footprint by strengthening international partnerships. On August 27, 2026, Chungbuk Governor Shin Yong-han held a high-level meeting with Alisher Abdusalomov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to South Korea, at the provincial government office's "Yeoneunmadang." The strategic dialogue focused on fostering substantive cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, investment, industry, and agriculture, while paving the way for closer commercial ties between regional enterprises in Chungbuk and their counterparts in Central Asia. 

During the meeting, both leaders engaged in an in-depth exchange of views concerning corporate exchanges, technological innovation, and workforce development. A major focal point of the discussion was Uzbekistan’s strong interest in Chungbuk’s cutting-edge industrial ecosystem, particularly in high-tech fields such as semiconductors and biotechnology. Recognizing the complementary strengths of both regions, Governor Shin and Ambassador Abdusalomov agreed to systematically identify and pursue mutually beneficial opportunities for economic growth and industrial advancement. 

Governor Shin introduced Chungbuk’s robust industrial infrastructure and key strategic sectors, emphasizing that deeper economic engagement with Uzbekistan will serve as a vital catalyst for local businesses looking to enter new overseas markets while simultaneously driving mutual investment expansion. He underscored that regional development in the modern global economy relies heavily on international synergy, noting that Chungbuk is well-positioned to offer valuable industrial collaboration models to emerging global partners. Furthermore, both sides reached a shared consensus on the necessity of moving beyond traditional government-to-government frameworks by actively activating private-sector economic diplomacy, encouraging regional business associations and private enterprises to take direct leading roles in cross-border partnerships. 

Governor Shin remarked that Chungbuk is currently leading South Korea's industrial momentum, anchored by core competencies in advanced fields like semiconductors and biotechnology, and noted that the potential for collaborative synergies with Uzbekistan is immense. He added that this meaningful encounter will serve as a crucial turning point to propel active exchanges of corporate entities, advanced technologies, and specialized human resources, ultimately cultivating a sustainable framework for shared prosperity between the two regions.

In response, Ambassador Alisher Abdusalomov expressed deep appreciation for Chungbuk’s warm hospitality and high-tech leadership. He highlighted that Chungbuk's world-class capabilities in semiconductors and bio-industry sectors can play an instrumental role in establishing a strong foundation for Uzbekistan’s ongoing national economic development and modernization. The Ambassador affirmed his commitment to working closely with the provincial government to foster expanded bilateral ties spanning economic, industrial, and human-to-human exchanges.
