Fisheries Resources Institute Recruiting 15th Class of Returning-to-Fishing School Trainees Until Next Month 2nd

The Chungcheongnam-do Fisheries Resources Institute is accepting applications for the regular training course of the 15th Returning-to-Fishing School from the 14th of this month until May 2nd.

The Chungcheongnam-do Returning-to-Fishing School is a specialized institution operated by the provincial Fisheries Resources Institute. Since 2020, it has been providing theoretical and hands-on training on all aspects of the fisheries industry to assist prospective and novice individuals in settling into fishing villages successfully.

This training course will run for five weeks, from May 26th to June 27th, and will focus on aquaculture.

However, if the number of applicants falls short of the minimum enrollment of 14, an additional fishing vessel operation course will be opened and operated concurrently with the aquaculture course.

The first two weeks of the training will involve theoretical instruction at the institute in Boryeong City, while the final three weeks will consist of participatory practical training with experts at fishing sites within the province.

Eligibility for application is open to prospective and novice individuals aged 18 to 65. Those aged 66 or older with existing fishing industry foundations may also apply.

Tuition is entirely free for trainees during the education period, and partial support for accommodation and meals will be provided.

Applications can be submitted by completing the application forms provided in the recruitment announcement on the Chungcheongnam-do Fisheries Resources Institute website (announcements/notices) and sending them via email ([이메일 주소 삭제됨]) or by mail/in-person submission to the Returning-to-Fishing School Team, Fisheries Management Division, Chungcheongnam-do Fisheries Resources Institute, 21 Daecheonhangjungang-gil, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

Jang Min-gyu, Director of the Chungcheongnam-do Fisheries Resources Institute, stated, "This 15th class will focus on aquaculture, while the 16th class in September-October will center on fishing vessel operations. As the training content has been segmented and specialized to provide practical assistance after returning to fishing, we encourage many prospective and novice individuals interested in the fisheries industry to apply."

Meanwhile, the Returning-to-Fishing School has produced 252 graduates, including the 24 trainees of the 14th class scheduled to graduate on April 25th this year. The school is committed to supplying a younger workforce to aging fishing villages and supporting the successful settlement of individuals planning a second life in the fishing industry.
