The Jeonbuk State Council for Culture & Tourism (CEO Lee Gyeong-yun, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) is presenting the creative dance musical "Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung: The Completion of Jeonju Bibimbap's Taste" at the Seoul Forest Open-Air Stage at 5 PM on September 18 through collaboration with the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (CEO Song Hyung-jong).
"Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung" is a creative musical based on Jeonju Bibimbap, a representative food of Jeonju. The story based on Jeonju Bibimbap has been continuously developed since 2023, and this year, the narrative has been expanded to "Jeonju Bibimbap, The Completion of Its Taste."
Set against the backdrop of Jeonju Nammun Market, the work combines stories told by unique characters, traditional sounds, and dynamic performances to unravel Jeonju's food culture and traditional arts into performance content.
This Seoul performance serves as an occasion for performances produced using Jeonju's cultural resources to meet new audiences, holding significance in enhancing regional brand competitiveness through the expansion of cultural contents.
The stage was prepared through cultural and artistic cooperation between the Foundation and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, providing citizens visiting the Seoul Forest Open-Air Stage with an opportunity to enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives along with the mood of autumn through ‘Seoul Stage in Autumn’ promoted by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.
CEO Lee Gyeong-yun stated, "This performance is a meaningful occasion to showcase a regional brand performance created based on Jeonju Bibimbap, a representative cultural resource of Jeonju, to audiences outside the province," adding, "We will further expand content distribution and exchanges so that Jeonbuk's excellent performance contents can meet audiences nationwide."
Meanwhile, "Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung" was selected for the 2026 Regional Culture and Arts Foundation Representative Performance Content Distribution Revitalization Support Project, and is scheduled to perform in Seogwipo, Jeju, in February 2027. It has also been invited to the 'Culture-rich Sarangchae' event organized by the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, where it will hold a performance at the Cheongwadae Sarangchae in November.
