A Collaboration Between the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Culture and Tourism Foundation and the Korea Regional Culture Promotion Agency
The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Culture and Tourism Foundation (CEO Baek Ok-sun) announced that it successfully presented the creative dance musical "Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung: The Completion of Jeonju Bibimbap's Taste (Mi)" at Cheong Wa Dae Sarangchae at noon on November 4, in collaboration with the Korea Regional Culture Promotion Agency (President Jeong Gwang-ryeol).
This performance was part of "Culture-filled Sarangchae: A Brilliant Invitation," an initiative organized by the Korea Regional Culture Promotion Agency in partnership with regional culture foundations and culture city centers. The event was designed to introduce unique local cultural narratives and Jeonbuk's outstanding cultural contents to the public.
"Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung" is a creative musical based on Jeonju’s iconic dish, Jeonju Bibimbap. Continuously developed since 2023, the production expanded its narrative this year under the subtitle "The Completion of Jeonju Bibimbap's Taste."
Set against the backdrop of the historic Jeonju Nammun Market, the performance combines engaging characters, traditional Korean sori (vocals), and dynamic choreography to showcase Jeonju’s rich culinary culture and traditional arts through a theatrical medium.
Through this performance, the Foundation expects to raise national awareness of regional cultural values and expand cultural accessibility for citizens. Moving forward, the Foundation plans to introduce Jeonju's food culture and traditional art contents to regions outside Jeonbuk, thereby enhancing local brand competitiveness and fostering inter-regional cultural exchanges.
CEO Baek Ok-sun stated, "This performance is a meaningful occasion to present a regional brand production centered on Jeonju Bibimbap—one of Jeonju's premier cultural resources—to audiences outside the province. We will continue to expand content distribution and exchanges so that Jeonbuk's exceptional performing arts can connect with audiences nationwide."
Meanwhile, "Joseon Chef Han Sang-gung" has been selected for the "2026 Regional Culture Foundation Representative Performance Content Distribution Revitalization Support Project" and is scheduled to be performed in Seogwipo, Jeju, in February 2027.
