The City of Sejong (Mayor Cho Sang-ho), together with the Sejong City Foundation for Arts and Culture, announced that it has newly selected 54 "Sejong Sarang Restaurants" this year.
"Sejong Sarang Restaurants" is an initiative to discover and foster representative restaurants in Sejong through direct citizen recommendations followed by written and on-site evaluations by the Blue Ribbon Survey.
Following the selection of 44 locations last year, the addition of 54 locations this year has expanded the total number of Sejong Sarang Restaurants to 98.
The newly selected Sejong Sarang Restaurants for this year consist of 33 locations in the eastern urban districts and 21 locations in the towns and townships (eup and myeon), encompassing a variety of business types such as Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine, cafes, and bakeries.
The city plans to develop "Sejong Sarang Restaurants" into gastronomic tourism contents linked with tourist attractions and experiences to induce stay-over tourism and expand local consumption.
In particular, the city will upgrade programs such as "Sejong Gourmet Exploration," which provides integrated gastronomic tourism information; "Sejong's Table," a day-trip gastronomic experience connecting seasonal ingredients with Sejong Sarang Restaurants; and "Sejong Oshik," a 1D2N program to enjoy both gastronomy and tourist spots.
In addition, the city plans to provide restaurant information through the "Sejong Gourmet Travel" website (www.sjcf.or.kr/foodtrip/index.do) and guidebook, while supporting the production of multilingual and QR code menus to enhance convenience for foreign tourists.
Along with these efforts, the city will host diverse online and offline promotional events, such as visitor stamp events, so that tourists can enjoy visiting restaurants alongside sightseeing and breathe vitality into the local commercial district.
Going forward, the city plans to expand Sejong's unique gastronomic tourism foundation to create a Sejong where people "stay by seeking out great tastes."
Namkoong Ho, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, stated, "We will actively utilize Sejong Sarang Restaurants as a tourism resource that attracts visitor visits and stays," adding, "We will continuously discover unique gastronomic tourism contents of Sejong to lead to local commercial district revitalization and enhanced competitiveness as a tourism city."
