Seogwipo, Jeju, March 21, 2025 – Jeju Tourism Corporation (President Ko Seung-cheol) announced today that it reopened the Seongsan Duty-Free Shop at Seongsanpo Port in Seogwipo, Jeju, after a 4.5-year hiatus.
The opening ceremony was attended by key figures from Jeju, including Jeju Governor Oh Young-hun, Seogwipo Mayor Oh Soon-moon, and Jeju Provincial Council Culture, Tourism, and Sports Committee Chairman Ko Tae-min, as well as representatives from the local tourism industry and Seongsan residents.
Seongsan Duty-Free Shop initially opened as a designated duty-free shop at Seongsanpo Port in 2013 but faced difficulties such as the MERS outbreak and the suspension of passenger ship operations, leading to two closures.
The newly reopened Seongsan Duty-Free Shop will operate as a downtown duty-free shop, unlike the previous designated duty-free shop. This will allow all tourists visiting Jeju, not just those using Seongsan Port, to enjoy duty-free shopping.
The renovated Seongsan Duty-Free Shop, with a size of approximately 351.12㎡, offers a variety of items, including cosmetics, perfumes, and single malt whiskey, and showcases local specialties such as Jeju Shinryeongju.
An official from Jeju Tourism Corporation said, "Seongsan Duty-Free Shop will become a new hub connecting tourism and shopping in the eastern region of Jeju, given its proximity to Seongsan Ilchulbong, Udo, and Seopjikoji."
