Daejeon City is accelerating its efforts to become a "Sports Special City."
On the 1st, the city signed a "Ryu Hyun-jin, Oh Sang-uk, Kkumcci Family Collaboration Goods Co-Branding" business agreement (MOU) at the city hall with Major Leaguer Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanhwa Eagles), national fencing athlete Oh Sang-uk, Daejeon Tourism Organization, and Daejeon Design Promotion Agency.
This agreement aims to develop differentiated tourism products and enhance the city's brand value by combining sports stars representing the region with Daejeon City's representative character, "Kkumcci Family."
According to the agreement:
Daejeon City will oversee the project and provide administrative support.
99 Corporation (Ryu Hyun-jin's agency) and Brion Company (Oh Sang-uk's agency) will provide portrait rights and intellectual property rights.
Daejeon Design Promotion Agency will be responsible for designing the collaboration goods.
Daejeon Tourism Organization will handle the production, distribution, and sales of the goods.
The goods will incorporate the players' symbolic movements, back numbers, and autographs into the Kkumcci Family characters, aiming to capture Daejeon's unique originality and sports identity. The city plans to utilize the goods as a tourism resource through official sales channels such as Kkumdori House and the Daejeon Promotion Hall within Shinsegae Department Store.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, "Daejeon's sports city brand is being strengthened through the strong performance of Hana Citizens and Hanhwa Eagles, the opening of Daejeon Hanwha Life Ball Park, and the hosting of the KBO All-Star Game and Fireworks Baseball." He added, "This agreement will be an opportunity to simultaneously boost tourism and the city brand with Daejeon's unique content that brings together sports stars and local characters."
Meanwhile, prior to the signing ceremony, Ryu Hyun-jin was officially appointed as a promotional ambassador for Daejeon City. He is expected to actively participate in city public relations and urban brand enhancement activities for the next two years.
