Over 4,800 Participants Join Baking Experiences, Offering a 10% Re-visit Discount at Participating Bakeries
The “2026 BBANG BBANG Day Cheonan,” recognized as a representative national bread festival, successfully wrapped up its two-day run on the 18th.
This year’s festival proved its stature as an experiential complex cultural festival, moving beyond a simple food consumption event by highlighting large-scale experiential content and community solidarity.
Co-hosted and organized by the city of Cheonan and the Cheonan Branch of the Korea Confectionery Association, the festival took place around the Olympic Gate Plaza at the Cheonan Comprehensive Stadium under the theme, “An Invitation to the Kingdom of Bread, Cheonan.”
At the festival venue, hands-on baking experiences led by visitors were actively operated. The city organized programs for about 800 teams (4,872 people)—nearly double the scale of last year—offering activities such as making walnut cookies, mini donuts, pizzas, and teddy bear cup cakes.
In addition, traditional bread-making sessions from eight countries, including Vietnam, China, and the Philippines (involving 344 teams), were held together to promote exchanges with multicultural members and add cultural diversity.
Content collaborated with students from the Communication Design Department at Sangmyung University also drew active on-site participation. Introduced for the first time this year, the “Bread Passport Stamp Tour” rewarded participants with bread coupons upon completing three missions: purchasing bread, taking a verification photo, and following the official social networking service (SNS), which encouraged visitors to explore every corner of the festival grounds.
Coexistence programs uniting local small business owners, farming households, and corporations took root throughout the venue. The bread market, featuring 53 local bakeries, showcased unique signature breads and local rice products. Meanwhile, 17 "Farmers’ Market" booths selling Cheonan pears, grapes, and walnuts, along with corporate booths such as Namyang Dairy Products, Shinsegae Food, and local startup Innerside, were also operated.
In particular, visitors who present receipts of 10,000 won or more from the festival’s bread market and revisit the participating bakeries between the 19th and the 31st will receive a 10% discount, linking a one-time event directly to neighborhood commercial consumption.
On the opening day, the 17th, a drone light show featuring 1,000 drones lit up the night sky, drawing enthusiastic responses from visitors.
Cheonan Mayor Jang Soo-soo stated, “Many citizens and tourists visited the festival grounds to enjoy the taste and culture of Cheonan through bread as a medium,” adding, “Based on the achievements of solidarity created together by confectionery businesses, farmers, corporations, and cultural artists, we will continue to develop BBANG BBANG Day into a representative national festival that elevates the city's prestige.”
