Singer Kim Jae-joong has officially unveiled his luxurious private residence in Tokyo, Japan, capturing intense public attention.
On the August 27 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s popular entertainment program "Fun-Staurant" (Shinsang Chulsi Pyeonstorang), Kim welcomed the production crew into his home in Tokyo, marking the very first time his Japanese residence has been revealed on television since his debut 23 years ago.
During the episode, Kim shared the story behind acquiring the property, stating, "I have been living here for about three years. It was a brand-new construction, but when the original owner had to move overseas, the property came on the market. I grabbed the opportunity right away, making me the very first owner of this house."
Located in Meguro, one of Tokyo’s most exclusive upscale neighborhoods, Kim’s residence is a magnificent three-story detached house. As the camera toured the interior, viewers were left in awe of its grand scale and sophisticated interior design, which featured luxurious wooden staircases and—astonishingly—a private indoor elevator connecting the floors.
The second-floor main living room proved to be a major highlight, boasting an impressive 4-meter-high ceiling that provided an extraordinary sense of openness. Kim expressed deep affection for his home, remarking, "When I first saw this house, what I loved the most was the high ceiling. It feels so peaceful and wonderful, and the windows open up nicely." He also highlighted a rare feature for Japanese homes—underfloor heating systems installed throughout the house, which he praised as an absolute comfort.
Beyond the architecture, the broadcast also shed light on Kim's down-to-earth lifestyle overseas. Known for his culinary skills, he demonstrated thrifty everyday habits in his dream kitchen, such as preparing affordable homemade dishes and managing budget-friendly ingredients.
However, a humorous inspection of the master bedroom by the production crew created a playful interrogation scene. Upon discovering two pillows on the bed, two pairs of slippers, and a pink toothbrush in the bathroom, the cast and crew jokingly pressed him on whether someone else was living with him. Flustered, Kim humorously protested, asking, "Who else would I sleep with?" and explaining that the items were fan gifts or cleaning tools, bringing roaring laughter to the studio
