Women's national football team forward Yun Su-jeong (24, Suwon FC Women) scored the equalizer against North Korea in the third match of Group F for the women's football tournament at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa in Japan on the 21st, contributing to a 1-1 draw.

Yun stepped onto the pitch as a substitute for Hyun Seul-gi (Gyeongju KHNP) right at the start of the second half. Earlier, the national team was trailing after conceding the opening goal to Chae Un-young in the 35th minute of the first half. Receiving a penetrating pass from Choo Yu-ri during a counterattack immediately after being substituted, Yun calmly finished with her right foot in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, shaking the back of the net.

After the match, Yun reflected, "Yu-ri unni passed the ball so well that I was able to score, and it felt amazing. I didn't expect the touch to turn out quite like that, but I was able to score because Yu-ri unni passed it precisely into the space where I was moving."

Last May, Yun faced the My Hometown Women's Football Club (North Korea) in the semifinals of the AFC Women's Champions League (AWCL) as a member of Suwon FC Women, where Suwon lost 1-2. Yun explained, "I was nervous, but because I knew what kind of style North Korea plays, it felt a bit more comfortable. The senior players helped me out a lot, so I played with ease."

Yun expressed her desire to emulate her senior teammate, Choo Yu-ri. Her eyes sparkling, she said, "Yu-ri unni's attacking style is fantastic, and she has great speed. Her personality is wonderful, and she takes good care of me. I want to learn a lot from her."

Head coach Shin Sang-woo also praised her, saying, "She is always a card that can turn the game around. We needed a change after conceding a goal to mount a comeback. Yun is utilized as a game-changer both in training and in the WK리그. I boldly deployed her, and I am grateful she even scored."

Yun emphasized, "The reason I was able to grow this far is because the senior players helped me even more and the coaching staff taught me a lot, which enabled me to do well. I hope to become a player who can grow even further, and I think I am a player who seems ordinary, but is not ordinary."
