Yongin, South Korea – A major new transportation artery, the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway, is set to open on January 1st, revolutionizing travel for residents of Yongin and surrounding areas. The 176.3-kilometer expressway, which connects the cities of Sejong and Pocheon, will significantly enhance connectivity between Yongin and major metropolitan areas like Seoul, the northern part of Gyeonggi-do, and the Chungcheong region.
The newly opened 72.2-kilometer section between Anseong, Yongin, and Guri features six lanes and includes two interchanges (North Yongin and Yongin), a service area (Cheoin), and a 31.1-kilometer stretch with a speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour. This is the first section of highway in South Korea to allow such high speeds.
“With the opening of the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway, Yongin residents will enjoy significantly reduced travel times to Seoul and other major cities,” said Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il. “The expressway will also improve connectivity with the Chungcheong region and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents.”
The expressway is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and stimulate economic growth in the region. With improved transportation infrastructure, Yongin is poised to become an even more attractive destination for businesses and residents alike.
