SEOUL — Samsung Electronics is approaching the final stretch of its pre-order campaign for the new Galaxy Z8 lineup, reporting strong interest from younger consumers for its latest generation of foldable smartphones. According to the tech giant on Friday, July 31, customers in their teens, 20s, and 30s account for more than half of all pre-orders placed through the official Samsung.com online store.

The pre-sale event, which covers the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8, began on July 28 and is scheduled to conclude on August 3. Devices ordered during this period will begin activation on August 4, ahead of the official nationwide release set for August 7.

Young Consumers Drive Demand for the New Wide-Form Foldable

A notable trend in early sales data is the high demand among younger buyers for the newly introduced wide-form factor model, the Galaxy Z Fold8. On Samsung.com, Cream emerged as the most popular color choice for the Fold8, followed closely by online-exclusive shades including Pistachio and Lavender.

Color preferences varied across the rest of the flagship lineup. For the premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, buyers favored Graphite alongside the Samsung.com exclusive Green Shadow. Meanwhile, the compact Galaxy Z Flip8 saw balanced popularity across Mint, Cream, and Pink options. Samsung Electronics has kept total pre-order volume figures undisclosed, following its standard policy.

Aggressive Promotional Benefits and Ecosystem Incentives

To boost adoption during the pre-order window, Samsung is offering significant hardware incentives, most notably its "Double Storage" upgrade. Customers who purchase a 256GB model automatically receive a 512GB version at no additional charge, a benefit valued at approximately 253,000 KRW.

For higher-capacity needs, buyers purchasing a 512GB version of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold8 can upgrade to the 1TB model for an additional fee of 311,000 KRW. This copayment covers roughly half the standard retail price difference between the two storage tiers.

Samsung is also actively targeting iPhone users looking to switch platforms. The company highlighted enhanced cross-platform transition tools, including a simplified "Smart Switch" feature that transfers data via a QR code without requiring additional app downloads, as well as expanded "Quick Share" compatibility for seamless file sharing between iOS and Galaxy devices. Additionally, Samsung Wallet features were showcased, emphasizing support for American Express international payments, the "Milli-Pass" service for military personnel, and integrated travel management tools.

Digital Perks and Subscription Services

Early adopters receive a bundled suite of digital services and accessories discounts. Pre-order packages include a 6-month trial of Google AI Pro, a 3-month subscription to audio platform Wella, a 10% discount coupon for the latest Galaxy Watch model, and a 30% discount coupon for official accessories.

Furthermore, Samsung is promoting its "New Galaxy AI Subscription Club." Members who enroll in the program receive up to a 50% guaranteed residual value upon returning their device, along with Samsung Care+ coverage and exclusive accessory discounts.
