Incheon, South Korea – Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), led by President Lee Hak-jae, has announced a call for applications for its "2025 Incheon Airport Startup Incubation Program." The initiative aims to discover and nurture innovative startups within the airport industry, with applications being accepted until April 30th.

This collaborative effort between IIAC and Incheon Technopark (ITP) seeks to bolster the domestic aviation ecosystem by providing comprehensive support to promising early-stage companies. The program will select approximately 10 startups within seven years of establishment, focusing on four key areas that align with the future of airport development:

Smart Airport: Technologies enhancing operational efficiency, passenger experience, and security through digitalization, automation, and data analytics. This includes areas like AI-powered services, IoT-based infrastructure management, and contactless solutions.
Eco-Friendly Airport: Sustainable solutions aimed at reducing the airport's environmental footprint. This encompasses renewable energy adoption, waste management innovations, sustainable aviation fuel initiatives, and carbon emission reduction technologies.
Wellness Airport: Services and technologies focused on improving the health, well-being, and comfort of passengers and airport staff. This can include stress-reducing technologies, enhanced hygiene solutions, and personalized wellness offerings.
Culture & Arts Airport: Initiatives that enrich the airport experience by integrating cultural elements, art installations, and entertainment options, transforming the airport into a more engaging and memorable space.
The selected startups will receive a total of ₩500 million in seed funding, averaging ₩50 million per company, to facilitate their business development and commercialization efforts. Beyond financial support, the program offers a robust suite of growth-oriented resources, including:

Tailored Mentoring: Access to industry experts and experienced entrepreneurs who will provide guidance and support in navigating the complexities of the aviation sector.
Networking Opportunities: Platforms for startups to connect with industry stakeholders, potential partners, investors, and other startups within the ecosystem. This includes participation in industry events and dedicated networking sessions.
Investment Readiness Support: Workshops and coaching designed to enhance startups' ability to attract investment, including pitch deck development and investor relations strategies.
Notably, startups demonstrating significant growth potential will be considered for further support through IIAC's broader co-growth initiatives, with the ambition of nurturing them into potential "unicorn" companies with a valuation exceeding ₩1 trillion (approximately US$750 million based on current exchange rates). This long-term commitment underscores IIAC's dedication to fostering high-impact innovation within the airport industry.
