Seoul, South Korea – November 24, 2024 – HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation announced today that Puerme Foundation, a leading organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities, has been selected as the grand prize winner of the second annual HD Hyundai Honor Award.

The HD Hyundai Honor Award, established last year by the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation, aims to recognize and support individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional dedication to helping those in need. This year’s grand prize of 150 million won will be awarded to Puerme Foundation for its 20 years of tireless work in promoting rehabilitation and independence for people with disabilities.

Puerme Foundation operates 15 affiliated organizations, providing a wide range of services including rehabilitation medicine, family support, community welfare, and employment support for individuals with disabilities. Notable achievements include the establishment of the Puerme Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital in 2016, the first specialized pediatric rehabilitation hospital in Korea, and the Puerme Social Farm in 2020, a workplace for young adults with developmental disabilities.

The foundation plans to use the entire prize money to fund research on new initiatives for people with disabilities and to enhance the skills of its staff.

The first runner-up in the organizational category was awarded to the Korea Unwed Mothers Support Network, while Kim Byung-rok, who has dedicated 30 years to repairing shoes for the underprivileged, was recognized in the individual category.

“We hope that the spirit of giving demonstrated by these individuals and organizations will inspire others to join us in making a positive impact on our communities,” said Kwon Oh-gap, chairman of the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation.
