Chungcheongnam-do Province successfully held a promotional event at Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul on April 20th, 2025, aiming to attract more tourists to the region. The event, titled "Chungcheongnam-do Tourism Promotion," was part of the province's strategy for the "2025-2026 Chungcheongnam-do Visit Years," an initiative designed to highlight the province's diverse tourist attractions and boost the local economy.
The promotional event saw participation from Chungcheongnam-do Province and three of its cities: Buyeo, Cheongyang, and Taean. Each participating entity showcased its representative tourist destinations, providing detailed information and promotional materials to park visitors. The event featured various engaging activities, including tourism information booths, distribution of brochures and souvenirs, and interactive games related to Chungcheongnam-do's attractions. The province also promoted upcoming events, such as the "2026 Taean International Horticulture Healing Expo," further enhancing interest in Chungcheongnam-do's offerings.
2025-2026 Visit Chungnam Years
Chungcheongnam-do is preparing extensively for the "2025-2026 Visit Chungnam Years," with significant investments in tourism infrastructure. The province plans to invest 348.8 billion KRW to complete 41 tourism infrastructure projects. These projects include the construction of the Baekje Culture Center in Gongju, the Geumgang Yeoulmokgil pedestrian path in Geumsan, and the Cheonsuman Ecological Wetland and Trail in Taean. Next year will see the opening of attractions like the Boryeong Dam Observation Tower, the Sannori Nature and Culture Art Village in Nonsan, and the Chilgapho Water Tourism Complex in Cheongyang.
In addition to infrastructure development, Chungcheongnam-do will implement comprehensive marketing strategies for festivals and events. Large-scale events like the Boryeong Mud Festival will be combined with K-pop concerts, while unique programs such as an eco-friendly camping festival and a "Top 100 Chungnam Restaurants" tour will showcase local resources. Tailored cruise tourism courses will also be introduced to attract more international visitors.
2026 Taean International Horticulture Healing Expo
A key event for Chungcheongnam-do is the "2026 Taean International Horticulture Healing Expo," scheduled to be held in Taean from April 25 to May 24, 2026. This expo, under the theme "Healthy Future Gardening & Healing in Nature," aims to showcase the therapeutic effects of horticulture, moving beyond traditional flower festivals. The expo is expected to attract 1.82 million visitors from 40 countries. The expo site will span 45.7 hectares in Kkotji District and an additional 42 hectares in Anmyeon-do Arboretum, making it one of the largest floral exhibitions in the country.
The expo will feature a variety of floral exhibitions, healing programs, and international exchanges. Interactive experiences promoting mental and physical well-being will be a key focus. The Anmyeondo Arboretum will serve as an extension venue, featuring eco-friendly gardens, forest healing spaces, and educational programs. Special events and cultural performances, including a Drone Light Show and Hologram Show, will enhance the visitor experience.
Chungcheongnam-do's Unique Appeal
Chungcheongnam-do aims to highlight its unique charm through various initiatives. The province is producing promotional materials for "Monthly Chungnam," introducing local tourist resources with a different travel theme each month. For example, February's theme was "Filling Warm Moments," showcasing the province's hot spring attractions. A recent promotional video features the Chungcheong-do dialect, adding a local touch to the region's attractions.
A provincial official stated, "Chungcheongnam-do has tourist destinations with different charms every season," and expressed hope that the promotional event would encourage more citizens to visit and enjoy the province. With the "2025-2026 Visit Chungnam Years" and the "2026 Taean International Horticulture Healing Expo," Chungcheongnam-do is poised to become a leading cultural and leisure hub in South Korea.
