Lee Soyoung, Minister of SMEs and Startups, visited a traditional market in Suwon on the 23rd to listen to the voices of merchants and revitalize the local commercial district ahead of Chuseok.

On this day, Suwon Special City Council Chairperson Kim Mikyung and Councilor Choi Sungho (Democratic Party of Korea, Haenggung, Ji, Uman 1·2, Ingye) also accompanied Minister Lee on her visit to the Suwon traditional market.

Chairperson Kim and Councilor Choi joined Minister Lee at the scene as she met with merchant association officials, and subsequently toured Yeongdong Market and Motgol Comprehensive Market in order. Throughout the markets, they conversed with merchants to check the market atmosphere ahead of Chuseok and the difficulties facing the local commercial district.

Minister Lee expressed her intention to re-verify the effectiveness of existing traditional market support policies, including the reorganization of Onnuri gift certificates, and to prepare support measures that merchants can truly feel on the ground.

During this visit, the Suwon Special City Council confirmed the direction of the government's traditional market support policies and listened to the difficulties and petitions of local merchants.

Chairperson Kim Mikyung of the Suwon Special City Council stated, "As traditional markets are the livelihood economic sites closest to citizens' lives, it is crucial to directly listen to voices from the field," adding, "The Suwon Special City Council will also maintain continuous interest and attention to ensure that the difficulties and opinions of merchants lead to practical support."
